Have you noticed that the mass grave/mass murder/largest crime scene in New Mexico has faded from the public spotlight?
Many women are still missing, and their families are convinced that they are buried in the West Mesa.
Yet the police department has declared that it is no longe a crime scene, and has covered the site.
What does this mean for Albuquerque and New Mexico?
What does it say about Albuquerque and New Mexico?
The families have carried the burden of the disappearance of their loved ones for years, a burden that became an even more horrible nightmare when the bodies were found.
The fading of the issue from public concern is horrifying for all who knew and loved these young women.
The murders of nine young women and two 15 year old girls, a mass grave, and the present silence about their deaths is a totally unacceptable state of affairs for our community.
Every woman in New Mexico has good reason to be outraged by this situation, and every man as well.
All are invited to attend a demonstration on Saturday September 18th at the Albuquerque Police Department (400 Roma NW) and call for justice for the murdered young women of West Mesa.
Please come and join the families on that morning.
Feel free to bring signs and flowers to express your outrage and grief.
Hope to see you there.
